Oliver C. Wright III

Retired Army Maj. Oliver C. Wright III of Fredericksburg went to be with his Lord on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at his residence.

He was the son of Evelyn M. Wright and the late Oliver C. Wright Jr. Oliver was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Army, retiring in 2004 as a major. He was formerly employed with the Department of Defense. He was a member of Shiloh Christian Church in Stafford County. Oliver loved his family. He enjoyed writing, reading, history, fishing and golfing. He was an avid sports fan and loved to cook and grill.

He is survived by his mother, Evelyn M. Wright of Hot Springs; his wife of 25 years, Karen Y. Wright of Westminster, Md.; son Raymond Wright of Stafford; sister Theresa V. Wright of New York, N.Y.; and granddaughter Micah Lovell. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by brother Ernest Wright.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at Piney Grove Baptist Church in Hot Springs, with the Rev. W. Ed Mansfield officiating. Interment will be in West Warm Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Full military honors will be provided by Curtis A. Smith VFW Post 1033.

Memorial donations may be made to West Warm Springs Cemetery Fund.
