Sidney F. Williams Jr.

Sidney Frye Williams Jr. 85, of Fredericksburg passed away Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at Hughes Home in Fredericksburg.

Mr. Williams served as a captain in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War. He retired from the U.S. Department of Transportation after 34 years of service. He later worked for the American Trucking Association.

Survivors include his wife, Marguerite J. Williams; daughter Linda Catherine Olson (Mark) of Falls Church; two sons, Sidney Bruce Williams (Melissa) of Richmond and Stanley Frye Williams of Stafford County; daughter-in-law Kathy Arias of Stafford; sister Evelyn Decker of Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren, Jonathan Williams, Kristin Olson, Morgan Kennedy, Jaclyn Olson, Christian Arias-Williams, Michael Harlam, Skyler Williams, Joshua Harlam and Trinity Williams; and one great-grandson, Liam Kennedy.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Elaine Harlam, and two sisters, Winnifred Rovetta and Dorothy Herrera.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.

A service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, at Ferry Farm Baptist Church, with the Rev. Paul Clark and Dr. Mark Olson officiating. Burial will be private at Quantico National Cemetery at a later date.
