Patricia G. Hassell

Patricia Gabriele Hassell, 54, of Spotsylvania County passed away Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at her home.

She was second-born to her mother, Hildegard, after her older brother, Karl Meidl, in Göppingen, Germany, in 1959. She was a happy person who loved her family. She went to German schools and graduated in 1980. At the end of her last year in school, she found herself moving to and living at Fort Belvoir, due to her father being in the Army and receiving military orders for movement at that time. She found a job on Fort Belvoir and worked there for three years. In April 1983, she returned to Germany, where she stayed until April 2005, working as a supervisor at one of the U. S. Army and Air Force Exchange Service facilities in Germany.

Patricia never missed a day or called in sick while working for the AAFES employer for more than 25 years, and she received an award for her dedicated service. Being a person who loved to work, she found herself getting a job after she returned to Virginia with AAFES on Quantico Marine Corps Base, but the job played out, leaving her heartbroken because she had dedicated herself to the job at AAFES, never missing a day's work. Being brokenhearted from losing the job, Patricia started having health problems. To add to all of this, she lost her mother on July 8, 2013, and felt that her whole world was crumbling. Three months after losing her mother, Patricia lost her battle with her health issues, at home.

Survivors include her father, Harold H. Hassell; brother Karl; sister-in-law Monica; her nieces, Petra and Stefanie; the youngest in the family, Pascal Lautner; her grandparents, Hollis and Eugenia Hassell; as well as her stepsister, Angela Carrizales, and her children, Michelle, Joshus, Rachel and Monica. She was preceded in death by her mother, Hildegard Hassell.

Services will be held at a later date at the Johnson Mortuary Desert Lawn Memorial Park, Yuma, AZ.
