Shirley Heflin Harrison, 92, of Fredericksburg passed away Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, at her home.
Mrs. Harrison was born Aug. 13, 1921, at Mary Washington Hospital to the late William Birdsall and Ruth Walker Heflin. She was a secretary and bookkeeper for Millers Fashion Plate for 43 years, until the business closed. She later worked as a teller for Union Bank and Trust for more than four years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and the Fredericksburg Area Museum and Cultural Center and a former active member of the Business and Professional Women's Club.
Survivors include her children, Neal Freeman Rattican and wife Kathie of Timberlake, N.C., Sharon Rattican Derieux of Fredericksburg, Suzanne Rattican Clarke and husband Roger of Sandston and James "Jay" Harrison III and Scot Lansing Harrison, both of Fredericksburg; grandchildren Suzanne Welsh of Richmond, Douglas Derieux of Fredericksburg, Lauren Janik and husband Michael of Vienna, Christopher Rattican of Los Angeles and Tori Harrison of Orange County; great-grandchildren Cameron and Triston Derieux, both of Maryland; sisters Lucille Heflin Ingalls and Patricia Ann Heflin, both of Fredericksburg; and nephew Gary Ingalls and wife Susan of Fredericksburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James G. "Jimmy" Harrison, and brother-in-law James H. "Buddy" Ingalls.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be private.
