Charles Thomas Jr.

Charles Thomas Jr., 69, of Spotsylvania County passed away Friday, Nov. 15, at Carriage Hill Nursing Home.

He was born and raised in Manassas by the late Charles Thomas Sr. and Daisy Thomas. The things he loved most in life were his family--wife, children and grandchildren--and many friends.

He loved tennis and playing card games at family gatherings. He was also an avid Redskins fan. He was the proud owner of C. Thomas Jr. and Son Trucking Inc., and was known as "Midnight Special" to his fellow truck drivers before his retirement. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Betty L. Thomas of Spotsylvania; one daughter, Sepia Thomas of King George County; five sons, Charles Thomas (Michelle) of Spotsylvania, Matthew Thomas of King George, Rodney Thomas (Alexis) of Stafford County, Ronald Thomas (Michelle) of Newport News, Jammy Thomas and fiancee Michelle of Capital Heights, Md., and Shawn Thomas (Maya) of Camp Springs, Md.; three brothers, Joe Thomas, Daniel Thomas and Richard Thomas (Lillian); and six sisters, Christine Bethea, Charlotte Harris (James), Clara Jones (Jesse), Daisy Williams (Richard), Joanne Thomas Greene and Caroline Alevedo-Smart (Kurt); 17 grandchildren; three aunts, Lessie Smith, Blanche Jones (George) and Virga Childs (Lewis): two uncles, Daniel Greenhow and Frank Greenhow; and a best friend, Daniel Bumbrey Sr. (Gladys).

A service will be held at noon Saturday, Nov, 23, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 6445 Morris Road, State Route 606, Spotsylvania, two miles west of the Thornburg exit.
