Lawrence Robinson

Lawrence C. Robinson, 82, of Fredericksburg, better known as "BoBo" to his loved ones and friends, passed away on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at Mary Washington Hospital.

Mr. Robinson served in the U.S. Army for three years during the Korean War, and was awarded a Purple Heart. He was born in Fredericksburg and lived there most of his childhood. He worked at the Library of Congress until 1968, when he became a self-employed D.C. cab driver. He later moved back to Fredericksburg until his passing.

He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church (Old Site) in Fredericksburg.

He loved to play pinochle, bingo and a host of other card games with his friends. His favorite NFL team was the Washington Redskins.

Lawrence, "BoBo," is survived by his wife and best friend, Anne Johnson Robinson; daughters Cheryl Smith (Percy), Romaine James and Karen Robinson; sons Gary Robinson and Lawrence "Larry" Robinson Jr.; four stepchildren; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Robinson.

The family will receive friends for viewing from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Jan. 27, with a service at noon, at A.L. Bennett & Son Funeral Home, 200 Butternut Drive, Fredericksburg. Burial will follow at Quantico National Cemetery.
