Eloise J. Burrell

Eloise J. Burrell was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, after a brief illness.

She was born in Youngs-town, Ohio, on Aug. 25, 1927, to the late Gus and Eloise Johnson.

In 1944 she and her sister left home and came to Washington to work at the War Department as tailors. Eloise later went to work with the Department of the Army at Fort Myers, where she retired after 37 years of federal service as a tailor. During that period of time she met and married William Amos, who preceded her in death. From that union she had one child, Sheila Diane.

Eloise later married French Burrell, who also preceded her in death. While Eloise lived in Washington, D.C., she was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church, where she was a faithful member of the United Methodist Women. After she moved in with her daughter, she attended Star of Bethlehem for 11 years until her death.

She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter, Sheila Diane (Francis); a twin sister, Elaine Allen of Warren, Ohio; grandchildren Roy Plummer (Kathleen) and Kimberly Curtis; five great-grandchildren, Dwight, Alexis, Jordan, Delonti and Jackson; a niece Patricia Hill; and great-nephews George Pack, Winston Pegues and Clifton Arrington; great-niece Nicole Shaw; godson Tyrone Amos; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by one brother, Louis G. Johnson and a niece, Victoria Pegues.

Viewing for Mrs. Burrell will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, at Star Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 19068 Bethlehem Church Road, Triangle, with a home-going service following at noon. Interment will be in Stafford Memorial Park in Stafford County.

Arrangements by Ames Funeral Home, Manassas.
