Best place to spend the day with your childBy Erin McCallafredericksburg.com With warm weather finally here, the kids will no doubt be begging for outside time. We know the backyard has only so many possibilties, and even Mom and Dad need variation, so pack a lunch, grab a blanket, and spend the day at Kenmore Park. We stopped by on a sunny Thursday and found the park delightful. The huge pines offered plenty of shade yet there was enough bordering sun to tan, (as one mother did on a blanket.) There are two playgrounds, one small and one large, equipped with slides, swings, monkey bars, a merry-go-round, and those little teetering animals with springs...whatever they're called. But there's more to do than slide and swing. Take the kids on a relaxing nature walk - collect pine cones, climb trees, count squirrels, pick dandelions, hunt for four-leaf clovers, spy on yellow butterflies or do like little Yulia Harrington and collect ants in a bug-box. If you know Kenmore Park is the place for you and you find yourself coming back, you can make your mark permanent. For $50, buy a brick on the park path in honor of your children. Their names will be engraved and your memories preserved. You can't tell us that's not sweet.
1. Be respectful. No personal attacks.
