Rodney Freeman III

Rodney Freeman III, 35, of Boulder, Colo., died Thursday, May 17, 2012, after a brief illness.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Eve; his parents, Rodney Jr. and Rebecca Freeman of Huron, S.D.; his grandmothers, Virginia Ann Freeman of Fredericksburg and Ardes Spaulding of Huron; and many beloved relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Rodney Freeman Sr. of Fredericksburg and Theodore Spaulding of Huron; his aunt, Cynthia Freeman Branscome; and his cousin, Randall R. Lincoln.

Elizabeth V. Saville

Elizabeth V. Saville

Elizabeth Virginia Saville, 87, of Lake Helen, Fla., passed away peacefully on Monday, May 21, 2012.

She was born in Stafford County on Nov. 9, 1924, to the late Walter W. and Ethel Homes DeShields.

Mrs. Saville is survived by her son, Robert DeLewinski and wife Esmeralda of Stafford; her daughter, Diana Meyers and husband Tony of Lake Helen; grandson Robert DeLewinski Jr. of Stafford; granddaughters Nicole Walz of Australia, Christina DeLewinski of Norway and Brandy Watson of Orange County; two great-grandsons, Hunter and Gage Watson; and her brother, Walter M. DeShields and wife Christine of Stafford.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Saville; brother Robert DeShields; and sisters Frances Dye and Linda Alvihiera.

She went to work for the federal government in 1947 and retired from Fort Belvoir in 1978 after 31 years of service.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Home, Stafford. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Quantico National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert DeLewinski Jr., Ronnie and Milton Dye, David Eye, Mark McCain and Clint Heflin.

Immediately following the burial, a reception for family and friends will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert DeLewinski.

Michael W. Howell

Michael W. Howell

Michael Wayne Howell, 65, of Spotsylvania County left this earth to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 24, 2012. He died at his home surrounded by his loved ones, after a long battle with heart disease.

Mr. Howell was born on Sept. 27, 1946, in Birmingham, Ala., the son of the late Ralph Edward and Louise (May) Howell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy "Dottie" Buckner; and a son-in-law, Syed lmran Hashmi.

Mr. Howell was a bricklayer by trade and was known to many of his friends in the trade as "Cowboy." He was a member of White Oak Ministries in Stafford County. Mr. Howell was a talented woodworker and craftsman. He spent many hours in his workshop building wonderful projects for his family and friends, as well as many other people who were a part of his life. He will be greatly missed.

Mr. Howell is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Donna (Hott) Howell; and four daughters, Tammy and her husband, Charles Pasto, of Fredericksburg and their three daughters, Madison, Sydney and Alexandra, Melinda and her husband, Kevin Clark, of Fort Worth, Texas, and their three daughters, Molly, Mackenzie and Marissa, Janie and her husband, Kenny Dodson, of Spotsylvania and her children, Thomas, Matthew, Bethany and Lauren Mills, and Brenda Hashmi of Fredericksburg and her two daughters, Sanya and Amber. Mr. Howell is also survived by two sisters, Pat Schroeder and Peggy Zimmer, and one brother, Richard Howell, all of Florida; and an uncle, Charles May of Alabama.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 27, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 28, at the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Wayne Rupe officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations to White Oak Ministries, Stafford, are appreciated.

Gus M. Schools Jr.

Gus Melvin "Billy" Schools Jr., 78, of Caret passed away Friday, May 25, 2012.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley Schools; daughter Nancy Jacobus (and David) of Culpeper County; sons Michael L. Schools (and Tammy) and Dennis R. Schools, all of Tappahannock; and other loving family members. He was preceded in death by a son, Melvin Wayne Schools.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 27, in Marks-Bristow Funeral Home, Tappahannock. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment is in Upper Essex Baptist Church cemetery, Caret.

Allison R. Britt

Allison Renee Britt, 49, of Spotsylvania County died Thursday, May 24, 2012.

Ms. Britt was a graduate of Spotsylvania High School and James Madison University. She was a member of Goshen Baptist Church and an elementary school teacher.

Survivors include her parents, Gay and Charles Britt of Spotsylvania; two daughters, Candace and Faith Howlin of Spotsylvania; three sisters, Donna Eastham and husband Rich of Huntsville, Ala., Kim McClellan and husband Kelly of Moyock, N.C., and Carla Britt and partner Jill Blaise of Laurel, Md.; four nieces; one nephew; and her beloved dog, Kush. She was preceded in death by her biological father, Aldon Shelton.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 27, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 28, at Goshen Baptist Church, with the Rev. Will Dodson and the Rev. John C. Edmonds officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
