Governor consoles the family

Gov. George Allen attended the service and made brief remarks. He had also spoken with Ron and Patti Lisk by phone earlier in the week.

He said Saturday that he spoke as governor, as a father and on behalf of all Virginians.

He urged the Lisks to remember their daughters, Kristin and Kati, in happy times and reminded them that they are in the prayers of residents around the state.

He told the Lisks all Virginians share three emotions: tears, fears and resolve. "Tears for the loss of your children ... fear that such a thing could happen ... and resolve that there will be justice."

"Most people will be thinking and praying for you as you have to deal in the quiet solitude looking at your daughters' clothes, the bedroom, the beds."

He told the congregation to continue praying for the Lisks and urged the parents to "remember these young girls, these sweet, innocent young girls."

"They will live on in all of our minds ... and in all of our hearts."
