UMW honors students at convocation program

University of Mary Washington students were honored last night at the Fredericksburg campus during a Senior Convocation program.

Christopher Kilmartin, professor of psychology, delivered the evening’s address.

Afterward, the following seniors were recognized with awards for their outstanding achievements:

Robyn Leanne Fielder of Roanoke, “University of Mary Washington Alumni Award” for demonstrating an outstanding combination of academic excellence, leadership and service to the university;

Michelle Lohr Chisholm of King George County, “UMW Alumni Association Bachelor of Liberal Studies Distinguished Graduate Award” for academic excellence and citizenship;

Brett Druger of Shamong, N.J., and Bryan Fryzel of Rockville Centre, N.Y., “UMW Outstanding Student Leadership Award” for leadership and service through involvement in activities and organizations;

Terry White of Richmond, “Elizabeth M. Baumgarten Leadership Award” for outstanding service to the university and community;

Rebecca Sager of Waynesboro, “Clara Boyd Wheeler Senior Service Award” for a graduating senior who exemplifies grace, a spirit of service and the ability to change lives;

Shaun Jurgens of Stratford, Conn., Erin Price of Stafford County and Danielle Steele of Dale City, “Alex J. Naden Memorial Award” for a student who shows a spirit of leadership throughout their college career.

In addition, an employee of the university was honored by the senior class.

Keith Gagnon, director of purchasing (formerly director of instructional media resources), received the “Outstanding Service to Students” award.
