A fire in Stafford County early Tuesday destroyed four homes, damaged five
others and displaced 10 families, authorities said.
Lt. Kimberly Harper, spokesperson for Stafford fire and rescue services,
said the blaze was reported shortly before 1 a.m. at the Manor at England
Run. She said both lower- and upper-level apartments were affected, and the
damage was estimated at $1.5 million.
No one was injured in the fire, which Harper said was accidentally caused by
“improper disposal of smoking material.” The Red Cross is working with the
victims, she said. Numerous firefighters were at the scene for hours.
