Teen killed in morning crash
17-year-old flips Jaguar in Stafford after car runs off the road.
Date published: 8/29/2007

BY ELLEN BILTZ

A 17-year-old driving a Jaguar died after an early morning crash today. Alexander Sherman was traveling northbound on Route 604 in Stafford at about 1:30 a.m. when his car ran off the right side of the road and struck an embankment, said Sgt. F.L. Tyler of Virginia State Police.

He said the car flipped and Sherman was thrown from it. Sherman was not wearing a seat belt.

A passenger in the car, another 17-year-old male, walked away without injuries and was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, Tyler said.

The single-car accident happened on Route 604, also known as Belle Plains Road, just one mile north of White Oak Road.

Sherman died at Mary Washington Hospital about 2:30 a.m., Tyler said.

He said speed was thought to be a factor in the crash.

This is in no doubt a tragedy and I am in no way saying alex deserved this horrible event but to say god has a say in our entire life and that alex had "no" control over what happen is ludicrous. Alex had control on whether or not to wear a seatbelt alex had control on whether or not speed. How many people have to die in vein to this before parents teach there children the proper way to drive? Im 18 years old and i wear my seatbelt, drive at a safe speed, and NEVER DUI. Parents its on your head.

Those who live in glass house's should'nt throw stones. So there for remember you may think you have it all under control in your perfect world but when the facts are laid out you dont have control over anything. Almighty God has all the control and he also has the last say in all our lives. So I Pray God has mercy on each of you and your family's.Ignorence has no place here.....

MOMENTARY LAPSE IN JUDGMENT (posted by theobc , Sep. 25, 2007 2:41 pm)    0 likes
i think the reason this is such a volatile subject is because the young man didn't have to die. (heard the one about not dying before your "time", but that don't explain suicides - you can definitely hurry your time - especially by not respecting life rules). if he hadn't been speeding or had his seatbelt on or perhaps even had not been out after curfew. so many factors - this was preventable. that's what makes it so hard. it was a momentary lapse in judgment, with a lifetime of consequences.

And its not unusual to see kids driving around in brand new bmws, jags, mercedes, lexus etc but thats to blame on the parents right? HEY while you all live your lives on the computer judging everyones mistakes go to the vehicle safety board and see where those cars stood compared to the "typical tennage car" on crash test they are the safer ones!!!!! And his car was 9 years old not brand new!!!! Kids make mistakes but so do adults live and learn, when your the perfect driver speak up till then dont judge!!
