Since 2005, Jewell has been making various crafts out of the remains of a horse chestnut tree that once stood on Fauquier Street, and which George Washington is believed to have planted. Jewell was asked to make a pen from the wood for the Stafford Rotary club to give to President Bush when he visits today.
