Two men were struck by a car outside of a Ruther Glen gas station early this morning and state police said today that the hit was likely intentional.

“We’re not ruling out any possible motive,” said Sgt. Tom Cunningham of the state police.

He said the two men, Charles O’Brien Samuel, 24, and Landron G. Jackson, 20, both of Ruther Glen, were taken by ambulance to MCV hospital in Richmond shortly after the 12:30 a.m. incident.

Their injuries are serious, but not life-threatening, he said.

Samuel and Jackson were struck near the rear entrance of the Petro gas station on Rogers Clark Boulevard in Ruther Glen, Cunningham said.

He said the state police have not named any suspects, but they will continue to follow any leads they receive.

The only description of the car is a gray, newer model passenger vehicle, but make and model are unknown, Cunningham said.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call Virginia State Police at 804/ 553-3445.
