The driver in a weekend crash in Spotsylvania County that killed her 5-year-old daughter has been discharged from the hospital. Lindsey Fillner, 28, of Sandston was turning left on U.S. 1 at the Spotsylvania—formerly Massaponax—interchange to access southbound Interstate 95 when her Pontiac G6 was struck by a Ford F550 tow truck traveling north on U.S. 1 Saturday night. Her daughter, identified by state police as 5-year-old Ainsley Fillner, was taken to Mary Washington Hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Lindsey Fillner was taken to Mary Washington Hospital before being flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital. Today, hospital spokesman Che Parker said Fillner had been discharged. Three other children were in Fillner’s car at the time of the accident. An 11-year-old girl was flown to Inova Fairfax after the accident and a 7-year-old boy was taken to Mary Washington Hospital. Another 5-year-old girl, identified by police as Ainley’s identical twin, was also taken to Mary Washington. Police said the older children were not related to the twins. Their conditions were not available today but police did not report any other fatalities from the accident. State police spokesman Sgt. F.L. Tyler said the collision is still under investigation and no charges had been filed. The crash occurred about 8:50 p.m. Police said Fillner had a green light and turned left from a through travel lane, rather than a left turn lane, and went around another vehicle to access the interstate. Police estimate the Pontiac was pushed 60 to 70 feet after being hit by the truck. The driver of the tow truck was a 32-year-old man traveling with his wife, 12-year-old boy and 5-year-old girl. The boy and his mother were taken to Mary Washington Hospital. Their conditions were not available.
