A task force has 30 days to recommend where to put the 245 remaining detainees. Date published: 2/2/2009
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Congressman Eric Cantor says he's opposed to moving detainees from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to Virginia when the camp shuts down.
Last week, President Barack Obama ordered the prison camp shut down in a year. A task force has 30 days to recommend where to put the 245 remaining detainees. The House Armed Services Committee has issued a report saying that detainees would be relocated to several detention facilities based inside the U.S, including two in Virginia. The report lists facilities in Quantico and Norfolk as possible sites to house detainees. In a news release, the Virginia Republican said it is the government's responsibility to defend the country and that Virginians don't want people with possible terrorist connections in their backyard. Cantor joined several other lawmakers opposing the move of the prisoners to their states.
These people are desperate and have no fear of
death...anyone that insane is capable of anything! Their desire
to destroy what we believe is precious is strong. I would not
underestimate any of them if they had so much as a split
second of opportunity!
Now we're talking STIMULUS!
Lest we forget..... there were 6 death row inmates who escaped from the Mecklenburg correctional institute..... Rememter the Briley Brothers... responsible for a large number of murders in Richmond in the late 70's and escaped fromt the facility in 1984 along with 4 of the buddies.... No it could never happen in Virginia.... It is stll the largest escape of death row inmates in the US!!!!!!! At the time it was Escape Proof.... It could never happen, yea right!
I used to think a Marine base had great security until I was stationed at MCAS Kaneohe Bay, HI and a mob hit man walked into a Car Rental Office at 4:30 pm on a pay day Friday while Marines were standing in line and shot a 20 year old daughter of an adversary in the head, dropped the gun, and left. They never did catch him
Inmates have not excaped from Rappahannock Regional Jail, you think they will escape from a Federal Prison on one of the strongest bases in the world?? No way possible, and if they do, they will really do some damage with their toothbrush and their flipflops! Give me a break!!
