Orange public hearing on Wal-Mart is canceled
Orange cancels meeting
Date published: 7/27/2009

The Board of Supervisors Public Hearing scheduled for tonight has been canceled. The board was to hear public comment on Wal-Mart's application for a special-use permit.

Below is the text of a press release from the County:

ORANGE VA, July 27, 2009 – The public hearing on the Special Use Permit Application 08-07 Large Retail Use (Walmart) before the Board of Supervisors scheduled for tonight has been canceled.

The cancellation is due to the failure of the Orange County Review to publish the necessary advertisement required by the State Code for the public hearing to be held before the Planning Commission. Out of an abundance of caution, both public hearings will be re-advertised.

The Board of Supervisors will discuss tomorrow night at its regular meeting how to proceed with new public hearings before the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors. The Board of Supervisors regrets the inconvenience which this error has caused.

Persons with questions should call Julie G. Jordan, Acting County Administrator.
