Holiday closings slated for Monday
Columbus Day affects government, trash, library, mail and transportation services throughout the region.

The following schedules will be affected by the Columbus Day holiday on Monday:

GOVERNMENT

All state offices, including the Virginia Employment Commission and DMV, will be closed. ABC stores will be open. Stafford County offices will be open with the exceptions of the courts, health department and dental clinic. Other city, county and federal offices will be closed.

TRASH SERVICE

In the city, Monday’s trash will be picked up Tuesday and Tuesday’s trash will be picked up Wednesday. Monday and Tuesday’s recycling will be picked up on Tuesday. Belman Road Recycling Center in the city and Stafford landfill will be open normal hours on Monday. Livingston Landfill in Spotsylvania will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., while convenience sites will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

LIBRARIES

The Central Rappahannock Regional Library and branches will have their regular hours of operation on Monday. Orange County Library will be closed Sunday and Monday, and will reopen Tuesday at 1 p.m. Smoot Library in King George will be closed Saturday for the Fall Festival, will reopen on Sunday and is closed again on Monday. Both the Culpeper Library and Caroline Library will be closed Monday.

MAIL SERVICES

Post offices will be closed. No delivery except Express Mail.

TRANSPORTATION

The Virginia Railway Express will not run on Monday, while Quick’s Bus Line will run on an abbreviated schedule. Other local bus lines, including FREDericksburg Regional Transit, will be operating.
