Authorities say Marine David Budwah faked war injuries to obtain freebies intended for wounded warriors. Date published: 10/19/2009
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) - The Marine Corps says a sergeant charged with faking war injuries to obtain freebies intended for wounded warriors will plead guilty.
First Lt. Joy Crabaugh of the Marine Corps Base in Quantico says Sgt. David Budwah will enter the plea at a court-martial hearing Wednesday in Quantico. Crabaugh wouldn’t say which offenses Budwah will acknowledge. The 34-year-old Marine from Springhill, La., faces eight counts carrying prison terms of up to 31 1/2 years. He is accused of bluffing his way into 33 events last year, including six rock concerts, two Washington Nationals games and a Washington Redskins game.
When my son got back form Iraq a restaurant on the Outer Banks gave him a free meal when we were out celebrating his return home. I personally thanked the manager and he thanked my son. There are many people that want to help veterans even those without injuries, Sgt Budwah is disrespectful to all those that have served and those that serve today. As we used to say in the Air Force, he's lower than wale shi$$ and deserves his fate.
I'm not even sure where to begin about how ashamed this guy should be. He's a Marine so you would think that he would see first hand the effects of war. Why would he fake this? Military members die every day to keep us free and he's out there faking injuries to get into concerts!?! Rest assured, he'll get his!
This guy is absolutely unreal. It amazes me how there are people in this world who can lie like this. What really blows my mind is that it took so long for him to get caught. I'm just even more amazed that all of this started over a year ago and that the Bethesda Naval Hospital nor his commanding officers even remotely had any idea that this wasn't real until now. Sgt. Budwah is a sad excuse for a soldier and should be punished the full extent that the Military law will allow. Pathetic...
