Republicans won all four Stafford County supervisor elections. Each candidate won with at least 50 percent of the vote, even in three-way races. Aquia Supervisor Paul Milde and Garrisonville Supervisor Mark Dudenhefer became the first incumbents to win re-election in the county since 2003. The only incumbent to lose was Joe Brito, whose seat went back to the man he defeated four years ago: Gary Snellings. Snellings will serve his second non-consecutive term on the Board of Supervisors. Susan Stimpson completed the Republican sweep by winning a three-way race for the Falmouth seat vacated by George Schwartz, who chose not to run for a second term.
“I think the state election carried through to the local level,” Schwartz said as the results rolled in.
