Man stabbed in city last night

November 17, 2009 12:00 am

A Fredericksburg resident was stabbed twice after an altercation outside a city restaurant last night.

Police responded to report at about 9:45 of a man injured after an altercation with an acquaintance.

Police say what started as a verbal disagreement turned physical when the suspect picked up the victim's bicycle and threw it at him. The two struggled, police say, and the victim got his bike back and rode away to a nearby 7-11. That's where friends realized he'd been stabbed twice in the back. The victim was taken to Mary Washington Hospial with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was later found and arrested at the Relax Inn.

Vincent Howard, 37, of Stafford was arrested and charged with malicious wounding. He was incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.
