Police in Westmoreland County are seeking a suspect who fled on foot after a shooting today near a school at Hague.
The shooting occurred shortly before noon near Cople Elementary School. The school was locked down for the next two two hours as deputies and Virginia State Police searched for the suspect with dogs in nearby woods, said Sheriff's Maj. John Hoover.
The school has now been reopened for its regular dismissal, said Hoover.
Hoover said one man was wounded in the shooting and flown by helicopter to Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg. He said the shooting, as well as the identities of both the victim and suspect, were still under investigation.
