JD in Fredericksburg asks:

Did UMW ever purchase that property in Italy?

Answer: I talked with the nice folks in the UMW Public Relations office, and they told me they didn't believe the purchase has completed yet, but weren't sure as to the exact status. They agreed to make some calls tomorrow and find out more or me.

For a little bit of background, you can read This story from 4/19/08. And here's the Web site for the property that they're looking to purchase: villacicolina.it

UPDATE: The public-relations office at UMW got back with me, and provided me the following info: The University itself does not actually plan to purchase the property. But a private individual plans to purchase it and make it available to the University. They believe the purchase is still in the works, but do not have any info about the status. The UMW Board of Visitors has not taken and official action yet.
