Vaccine clinics, an update
Nov. 4, 2009 1:55 pm
The H1N1 vaccine is going out almost as quickly as it’s coming in. The Health District received 3,200 doses at 10 a.m. today, and much of it will be distributed tonight and tomorrow at hastily arranged school clinics. Tonight’s clinics will start at 5 p.m. at Massaponax High in Spotsylvania and Mountain View High in Stafford. These are in addition to the already scheduled clinic at 5:30 p.m. at Lafayette Upper Elementary in Fredericksburg. Tomorrow there will be clinics during the school day at King George Middle School and Holy Cross Academy in Stafford. The number and types of doses available are: Massaponax: 1,300 doses, including 900 injections and 400 FluMist. Mountain View: 1,300 doses, including 1,100 injections and 200 FluMist. Lafayette Upper Elementary: 800 doses, all FluMist. King George Middle: 500 doses, including 400 injections and 100 FluMist. Holy Cross: 300 doses, including 200 injections and 100 FluMist. “Area schools should be given a tremendous amount of credit for their ability to mobilize and conduct their vaccination clinics in a short period of time,” said Dr. John Petrasky, director of the Rappahannock Area Health District, in an e-mail this afternoon.
