What good is shame, anyway?RECENTLY, I was talking to a friend about teen pregnancy, a problem which unfortunately abounds in Fredericksburg. Early sexual activity is linked to a higher risk of contracting a sexually transmitted disease, depression, and other well-documented negative consequences. That's bad enough, but when kids have kids, all kinds of problems follow: low education and employment rates for mothers, welfare dependency, increased risk of child abuse, juvenile delinquency, etc.
