The Dan River Region is getting nearly 100 more jobs from a company on a self-described mission to transform the agriculture industry.
AeroFarms will bring 92 new jobs and invest $42 million to build its largest indoor growing facility to date in Cane Creek Center, state officials announced at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research on Wednesday morning.
According to its website, what’s termed as aeroponic technology “provides the perfect conditions for healthy plants to thrive, taking indoor vertical farming to a new level.”
The technology grows plants without sun or soil in a fully-controlled indoor environment, according to AeroFarms.
