Three Fredericksburg-area businesses have been recognized for their extraordinary commitments to helping others and improving the local quality of life.
The Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce presented its 2014 Goodwill Awards Tuesday at Rappahannock Goodwill Industries’ Community Center, 4701 Market St.
Comedian and motivational speaker Brett Leake delivered the keynote address at the 13th annual Goodwill Awards & Expo.
The winners are:
Spaces Design Studio, 1004 Caroline St., which won the award for a small business. The company has given generously of its time, space and services to a large number of area nonprofits.
Spaces Design has been especially helpful to the newly launched Children’s Museum of Fredericksburg, as well as to the Fredericksburg Area Museum and Cultural Center. The company also supports the Fredericksburg Main Street Initiative.
MacDoc Realty, 1809 William St., which won the award for a medium-sized business. It has donated funds and time to nonprofits, including The Thurman Brisben Center, the Paul Stefan Foundation, Riverbend High School Athletics; Rappahannock Big Brothers, Big Sisters; and Empowerhouse.
Rather than throw an annual holiday party, MacDoc employees split into teams, adopt families and ensure that those families have a merry Christmas.
LifeCare Medical Transports, 1170 International Parkway, which won the award for a large business. The company has provided free health and safety education classes to a wide array of local groups.
It also has given generously to area nonprofits, including the American Heart Association, the Mary Washington Foundation, Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center, Rappahannock EMS Council and Spotsylvania Crime Solvers.
