1781 Brewing Co. is open and will hold a grand opening celebration on May 13.
The brewery is located at Wilderness Run Vineyards in Spotsylvania County at 11109 Plank Road.
Managing partner Brandon Pallen, who runs the brewery with managing partners Harry Pagan and David Paga, said the brewery will open with eight beers on tap at their bar. He said they also hope to distribute to local restaurants and brew shops. He said the brewery focuses on French and Belgian-style farmhouse ales, but will produce a wide variety of traditional beer.
The name 1781 comes from the year of the British surrender at Yorktown during the American Revolution, when, Pallen said, the Marquis de Lafayette stopped on the farm while leading troops south for provisions.
