Hilldrup, in partnership with The Community Foundation, is launching the “Hilldrup Move-Up Fund” to give financial aid to people facing potentially devastating circumstances or who need assistance securing housing.

The fund was inspired by a story that Charles McDaniel, the Stafford County-based moving and storage company’s CEO, read in The Free Lance-Star last year. It concerned a family that lost their home because of a run of bad luck.

Hilldrup has supported the community and The Community Foundation for years, and he and his company were looking for a larger cause to support that would make a difference locally. They decided to work with the foundation to study options for helping area families during their time of need “move up” to a more favorable situation.

The Hilldrup Move Up Fund will do this by supporting several local nonprofit organizations that serve families who have housing needs but don’t have the resources to address critical issues. The company will work with the founding and local nonprofits to identify families who are in a situation where money would make a significant difference, money or support would solve a problem of urgent or immediate need, or where money would help the family maintain secure housing.
