Mary Washington Hospital is the second-best hospital in the Washington metro area, according to the U.S. News & World Report 2017–18 “Best Hospitals” list released this week.
MedStar Georgetown University Hospital was first on the list and Mary Washington Hospital was followed by Inova Fairfax Hospital, which came in third.
MWH also ranked sixth in the state among roughly 123 Virginia hospitals surveyed and received “high-performing” ratings in six adult procedures or conditions: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), colon cancer surgery, heart failure, hip replacement, knee replacement and lung cancer surgery.
“We’re gratified again to receive this national recognition for the exceptional work of our physicians, nurses, and staff at Mary Washington Hospital,” said Michael McDermott, president and CEO of Mary Washington Healthcare.
The list used data to determine the top hospitals including survival and readmission rates, volume, patient experience, patient safety and quality of nursing care.
