The Fredericksburg Area Museum (FAM) will celebrate First Friday with the public every month during 2019! FAM’s First Friday series will provide extended hours and engaging programs to the public every month.  As always, this series is FREE and open to the public, all ages are welcome!  The schedule for this year is as follows:


March 1 (5 - 8 PM): FAM’s 2019 Reveal! We’ve been working hard the past two months to install three new exhibitions including a new gallery space called, The Community’s Collection, a dedicated gallery to our area residents and the fascinating things they collect.


April 5 (5 - 8 PM): Fredericksburg Jazz Collective’s Lecture and Performance.  Listen to jazz presented by FJC and learn about the history of jazz.


May 3 (5 - 8 PM):  Explore the science and history behind Fredericksburg’s bridges. Families will design and test their own bridges.


June 7, July 5, August 2, September 6 (5 – 9 PM): Checkout the FAM galleries for FREE during our Sounds of Summer concerts.  FAM will be open to the public during our First Friday concerts.


October 4 (5 – 8 PM): Family-Friendly Movie Night in Market Square. Join FAM for a fun family film!


November 1 (5 – 8 PM):  Paint Your Pet! Bring a picture of your furry-friend and we’ll provide the rest! This event is FREE, however, RSVPs are required. Please contact Theresa Cramer at to reserve your spot.


December 6 (5 – 8 PM): Merry Trees exhibition opening and pictures with Santa! See FAM’s exhibition, in partnership with Hugh Mercer Elementary School, featuring holiday trees decorated with ornaments from the local elementary school and take home a picture of your family with Santa!
