A police officer who lives in the Fredericksburg area and works in the Washington area is in jail after being arrested for soliciting sex from a minor online, police said.
Dustin Ryan Moore, 28, is charged with two counts of using a communication system to facilitate sex with a child, according to a release by the Fairfax County Police Department.
Fairfax County police said the child Moore was trying to solicit is actually a detective with the department's Child Exploitation Unit. Moore initiated contact online with a person he thought was a child in early December.
During the investigation, Fairfax police learned that Moore is employed by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority as a police officer.
Moore was being held in the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center as of Thursday night. Court records show that he was arrested on Wednesday, the day after his birthday.
