A King George County man whose 2-year-old son was killed in a dirt bike accident Wednesday has also died from injuries resulting from the crash, police said.
De'Shon T. Brown, 21, died Friday in Inova Fairfax Hospital, where he was flown after the accident, state police spokeswoman Corinne Geller said.
According to police, Brown was riding a youth dirt bike in the northbound Lane of Comorn Road at 8:19 p.m. Wednesday when he lost control and crashed in the roadway. His son, Brayden C. Brown of Colonial Beach, was thrown from the bike and was pronounced dead at the scene, less than a mile north of Igo Road.
State police said a 2007 BMW came upon the scene a short time later and was unable to avoid striking both victims. Geller said that after consultation with the King George Commonwealth's Attorney's Office, no charges were placed against the 22-year-old BMW driver.
Commonwealth's Attorney Keri Gusmann said it was determined that the driver, a cousin of Brown's, did the best he could to avoid the collisions.
Brown graduated from King George High School, where he played football. He also attended Shenandoah College in Winchester, where he played wide receiver for the Division III school.
