A 47-year-old Spotsylvania County man has been arrested on multiple charges, including one count alleging that he inappropriately touched a girl in his wife’s Girl Scout troop.
Chad Leroy Miller is charged with indecent liberties with a child and multiple felony counts of possessing child pornography, Sheriff’s Capt. Jeff Pearce said.
Miller was arrested Thursday and has since been released from the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $10,000 bond.
According to Pearce, Miller assisted his wife with a Spotsylvania-based Girl Scout troop and often chaperoned various events. He was also a family friend of the 14-year-old girl, police said.
Spotsylvania detectives recently began an investigation after Miller was accused of sending a link to a pornographic website to the victim. Police and Child Protective Service workers later learned of an allegation that Miller had touched the girl inappropriately.
Police got a search warrant for Miller’s home and seized cellphones and computers. Police allege that they found several-hundred images depicting child pornography.
Sheriff Roger Harris praised his detectives and CPS workers for their prompt response.
“We place the highest priority on the safety of our children and these detectives did an outstanding job,” Harris said.
