A Louisa man was seriously injured Monday night when his car ran off of Shannon Hill Road near Interstate 64 and struck a tree, according to Virginia State Police.
Police said James D. Lowry, 49, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from his 1998 Ford F–150 pickup truck when it crashed. He was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.
Investigators said Lowry was driving southbound on Shannon Hill Road, also known as Route 605, when his truck went off the right side of the road. He over-corrected and the truck came back onto the road, crossed into the oncoming lane and went off the road and hit a tree.
Police charged Lowry with reckless driving and failure to wear his seat belt. The crash remains under investigation.
