A pedestrian was seriously injured by a train in the town of Orange Thursday evening at 6:10 p.m. near the intersection of May Fray Avenue and Barbour Street.
A Norfolk Southern train was traveling south when it struck a pedestrian who was crossing the railroad tracks, traveling east.
The pedestrian, Ronald E. Snead, 63, of Orange, Va., was flown to UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville with life threatening injuries.
The Norfolk Southern train remained on scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
Virginia State Police Trooper F.W. Stanley was assisted by the Orange Police Department and Orange County Fire and Rescue Department.
