At least two young men have been arrested in connection with a gruesome homicide discovered early Saturday in southern Stafford County, but authorities Wednesday declined to discuss the arrests or release the identity of the victim.
Jonathan Vladimir Castillo–Rivera, 20, is charged with first-degree murder and Kevin Alexis Rodriquez–Flores, 18, is charged with second-degree murder. Castillo-Rivera was booked into the Rappahannock Regional Jail late Tuesday and Rodriquez–Flores was booked early Wednesday. It was not clear where the suspects lived.
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Amanda Vicinanzo said Wednesday evening that she was not at liberty to discuss the case. But she acknowledged that the Sheriff’s Office knew of no other homicides in Stafford on Saturday, the offense date listed for both Castillo–Rivera and Rodriquez–Flores.
A deputy driving on River Road about 4:30 a.m. Saturday saw a body on the side of the road. Authorities quickly determined that the man was a homicide victim, but have not released the cause of death.
However, other police sources said the victim suffered several different types of trauma to his body.
Sources also reported that a third suspect, a juvenile, was arrested Wednesday and that authorities are investigating several others. Vicinanzo would not confirm those reports.
“We will provide an update to the community as soon as possible,” Vicinanzo said. “Right now, detectives are actively working on resolving this case and we are waiting to release further information so as not to compromise the integrity of the investigation.”
