At its meeting Tuesday, the Caroline County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to approve a speed limit increase on the U.S. 301 north corridor.
Drivers will be able to travel at 60 mph on the 10-mile stretch from the Fort A.P. Hill gate to the Port Royal town limits. The property on both sides of U.S. 301 is owned by the Army base, so there are no commercial businesses or side traffic.
That portion of the road is the only direct connection for traffic heading toward the Chesapeake Bay Bridge–Tunnel.
