DECA: Massaponax has a heart of gold

Morgan Hughes, Taryn Saunders, Grace Pietro, Ellie Butler and Alina Krannitz support Fairy Godmother Project.

September was Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and on Friday, Sept. 28, Massaponax High School went gold to benefit the Fairy Godmother Project. Massaponax DECA students Ellie Butler and Taryn Saunders led the campaign to raise awareness and money for the organization. T-shirts were designed and sold with all proceeds donated to Fairy Godmother Project.

Massaponax DECA raised $4,012 to help Fairy Godmother Project continue to do their valuable work here in our community.

Community members joined in to support the cause. Lee Hill Elementary and 1st Choice Better Homes and Land had T-shirts made and collected donations, the local Rotary also made a financial contribution. Parkside and Wilderness elementary schools, and Battlefield, Freedom, Post Oak and Ni River middle schools helped raise awareness about the cause by encouraging students and staff to wear gold.

The Fairy Godmother Project assists families that have a child diagnosed with pediatric cancer. To learn more visit fairygodmotherproject.org.
