Two teams from the same school district placed top ten in the world at an International DECA Competition held in Atlanta, Ga., in April. This conference, for high school emerging leaders and entrepreneurs, had more than 19,000 students participating with more than 175 teams competing against our local schools. Elizabeth Mueller and Kenady Horne from Riverbend High School and Meghan Gates and Cameron Buzzell from Courtland High School wrote 30-page manuals and created presentations about their school stores. They achieved an impressive gold level status for their work on marketing information management. After giving three presentations to a panel of judges in Atlanta, both teams advanced to receive the honor of top ten internationally. This is Mueller and Horne’s second time placing top ten in the world. Having two teams from the same county receive this recognition is remarkable.
