There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new "healing grove" at Memorial Park on Kenmore Avenue Friday afternoon.
The grove, created by Mental Health America of Fredericksburg, is envisioned as a place in nature for people to go to meditate and hopefully find peace and solace from grief or loss.
Friday afternoon's ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m. with the planting of the first of a planned eight trees for the grove, followed by a brief mindfulness exercise.
There will be refreshments afterwards.
The grove is located at Kenmore Avenue and Monroe Street.
