A 63-year-old Louisa man died while canoeing on Lake Anna on Wednesday evening, according to the Louisa Sheriff’s Office.
The man, who the sheriff’s office did not name, went out in his canoe in the afternoon. His wife later tried to reach him by phone but couldn’t, so she went looking for him, according to Maj. Donald Lowe. At about 7 p.m., she went to a common area in the Hickory Creek subdivision and discovered her husband floating in the water near the docks.
The man, who had health issues, had suffered a head injury, but Lowe said no foul play is suspected.
Lowe said they aren't sure if the incident "was accidental or health related or a combination of both."
