Spotsylvania County’s administrator is leaving for greener pastures in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Mark Taylor, the onetime county attorney who became the top administrator in June 2015, has accepted the same position with Greene County.
He will move to the rural county of 19,600 residents in the Charlottesville metropolitan area. Spotsylvania has more than 133,000 residents.
Spotsylvania Supervisor David Ross said Taylor told members of the move Tuesday. He said Taylor will continue in his position with the county until April.
No comments have been made by the county or Taylor concerning the move.
The Greene Board of Supervisors unanimously approved Taylor’s hire, the Greene County Record reported earlier this week.
Taylor, a D.C. native, served as Spotsylvania’s deputy attorney for four years before becoming the county attorney in 2000, a position he held until 2006. He served as Accomack County’s attorney from 2007 to 2015.
