The third annual Courthouse Village Food Truck Rodeo has been rescheduled for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Spotsylvania Courthouse Village, 9019 Old Battlefield Blvd.
Spotsylvania County’s Department of Economic Development & Tourism and Spotsylvania Courthouse Village developer W.J. Vakos Companies had originally scheduled the event for last April, but had to postpone it due to inclement weather.
The event will feature around 30 food vendors selling a variety of cuisines in the Village’s Merchants Square, and people can vote on their favorite vendor by 2:30 p.m. They will be judged on food quality, service and overall experience.
New this year will be a beer garden provided by Spotsylvania’s Maltese Brewery. There will also be music provided by DJ Heav Ham, entertainment by the Courthouse School of Ballet, a martial arts exhibition by J Tiger Martial Arts and a fitness demonstration by Anytime Fitness at the Merchants Square Pavilion.
A few non-food vendors will offer merchandise for sale during the event as well.
The rodeo is held rain or shine with free admission and parking. Limited tables and chairs are available for seating, but attendees are welcome to bring a blankets and chairs to sit on the lawn. This is a “dog-friendly” event for well-behaved, leashed dogs.
Contest award trophies are again being designed and created by local artisan Hunter Perkinson, a 1973 graduate of Spotsylvania High School, who began his blacksmith career in 1990 after attending Bear Mountain Outdoor School in Hightown. He is a member of the Central Virginia Blacksmith Guild and is sole proprietor of Featherstone Forge.
