A Spotsylvania teenager was critically injured Wednesday in an ATV accident in the Post Oak area of the county, officials said.
Sheriff's Lt. C.A. Carey said the accident occurred about 4:15 p.m. on Curtis Lane. The teen lost control of his vehicle and crashed on the roadway, Carey said.
The victim was transported to nearby Spotsylvania High School before being airlifted to the VCU Medical Center in Richmond. He was already gone by the time deputies arrived, Carey said.
There were multiple posts on social media saying that the victim had died, but Carey said that as far as the Sheriff's Office knew, the teen was still alive Thursday evening.
