UMW hosting Beeping Egg Hunt at Belmont

A 3-year-old searches for an egg during a Beeping Easter Egg Hunt at Gari Melchers Home and Studio in 2012.

Gari Melchers Home and Studio at Belmont will host its fourth annual Beeping Egg Hunt March 29, according to a University of Mary Washington release.

The egg hunt provides an opportunity for visually impaired individuals, along with their families, to participate in an audible egg hunt. The event will run from 2–4 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Families are asked to register by March 25.

The Stafford County-based International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigators, donated the eggs, which emit a beep that allows visually impaired children to retrieve them using their hearing.

The event also includes a miniature animal petting zoo, crafts, “Touch a Tractor” and Wegmans-donated snacks.
