Bernadette Joan "Sheri" O'Meara, 89, died Friday, April 29, 2005, at Mary Washington Hospital, after a brief illness.
Born June 8, 1915, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Francis Sheridan and Mary Donovan Sheridan. She made her home in Fairfield, Conn., after retiring as an executive secretary and administrator for U.S. Steel in New York City. She lived the last six months of her life near her son Gerry O'Meara, in Fredericksburg.
Mrs. O'Meara always looked forward to spending summers at her rustic log cabin on the shores of Long Lake in Bridgton, Maine, surrounded by family and friends.
She was the widow of Benedict P. O'Meara and was preceded in death by her oldest son, Benedict Jr.
In addition to her son Gerry, survivors include her sons, Ned O'Meara of Bradenton, Fla., and Frank O'Meara of Fairfield; a daughter, Jane Sanders of Burlington, Vt.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in Fairfield and Mrs. O'Meara will be interred next to her husband and son in St. Charles Cemetery in Farmington, N.Y. There also will be a memorial service this summer on the shores of her beloved Long Lake.
