Marion M. Deitz-Blair, 89, a lifelong resident of Fredericksburg, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at her home in College Heights. Marion, born on June 9, 1929, was the youngest daughter of James W. Morris and Mildred C. Morris. She graduated from Spotsylvania High School, began her career in the office of Dr. Carol Kennedy as a dental assistant and remained there until his retirement. Marion then worked in the office of Dr. Samuel Sanders until her retirement from dentistry in 1979. From the late 1960s until her death, she managed residential rental properties built by her first husband. Marion married Otis A. Deitz in November of 1947; they were married until his death in March 1989. She then married Glenwood R. Blair in July 2002, after more than a decade of widowhood; her second marriage ended upon his death in November 2008. Marion was a devoted, loving mother; an engaged, doting grandmother and great-grandmother; and a trustworthy, constant friend. She lived a life with no regrets and loved, and was loved by, many. Marion epitomized grace and class. She was a devoted Christian and was an active member of Fredericksburg Baptist Church, where she served for many years as a Deacon. In her spare time she was a member of Mary Washington Hospital Auxiliary. Marion enjoyed traveling, domestic and abroad, during and after her marriages. Survivors include her two children, Susan Hansen (Daniel) of Fredericksburg and Stephen Deitz (Ellis Hall) of Los Angeles, Calif; two granddaughters, Kindell Walters (Brian) of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Brooke Satterwhite (Jason) of Bowling Green; two great-grandsons Leyton Satterwhite and Reid Satterwhite of Bowling Green; an older brother Wilbur Morris (Jane) of Alexandria; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15 at Fredericksburg Baptist Church, 1019 Princess Anne St., Fredericksburg, VA 22401. Interment will be private.
