George Black O'Reilly, 84, of Fredericksburg died peacefully on Sunday, February 3, 2019. Mr. O'Reilly was born in Charleston, Missouri, the son of the late John Boyle and Mary Josephine Dugan O'Reilly. He served his country for nearly ten years in the National Guard, Navy and Army. While in the Army he learned his trade skill of cable splicing. He worked for AT&T for twenty-nine years as a cable splicer and an engineer. George was an avid reader, civil war enthusiast and a great storyteller. Survivors include his devoted wife of 56 years, Madeline; their four children Timothy of Herndon, Shawn (Jessica) of Fredericksburg, Kathleen Upton (Scott) of Charlotte, N.C. and Bridget of Charlotte, N.C.; twelve grandchildren Maggie Harper (Kyle), Caleb, Tyler and Breanne O'Reilly, Flo, Gina, George, Jack, Macy and Henry O'Reilly, and Jenna and Maeve Upton; one great-grandchild Killian O'Reilly; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Finley and unnamed infant. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 7 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 8 at St. Jude Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Quantico National Cemetery. Remembrances may be made in the form desired by friends.
